A walk in the woods

After looking online and through guidebooks, we found a place near to our house where we thought we would be able to see a tapir.  We drove up into the hills, and over some very rough roads, until we got to a trail.  The guy on the phone said it was a 3 km hike.  Well, it was misting/raining on us the entire time, and the trail was very slippery and muddy the entire way.  It was very beautiful to go into the forest on a day like that.  We crossed about 5 bridges, some of them covered with moss, and they looked like they were rickety.  There were holes in the bridges, and they were about 20 feet above the river/stream.  Right about when we were about to give up and turn back, we found the place, called Cerro Dantos.  It turns out that they don't keep any animals there, they just go out and look for them at night.  Well, that was a bit disappointing, but the hike was a wonderful adventure.

Tadpoles were found in numbers, but no frogs.

It wasn't so much raining as much as it was misting.

Mariela navigating a bridge with holes in it, covered in slippery moss, and 20 feet above a running stream.

The atmosphere was lovely, like walking through a cloud.

Within a few minutes Lucia and the girls had captured a small lizard.

The view from the edge of one of the bridges.

A nice millipede that Lily spotted on the trail.
