Visiting Paris

So much happening in a short time. We went to Versailles and the Louvre with Wendy, Mitch and Shimmy, and tomorrow Uncle Matt comes in from Germany.

  1. The top photos show us at the top of the Eiffel Tower at about 10:30 pm. The mood was festive at the top, and it was raining, but not too hard. We bought champagne and took many photos. Every hour the tower lights up with sparkling blue lights that randomly twinkle.

We visited the Louvre during that day, and hope to post a few photos. The museum is filled with just about every artwork you ever studied in school. Pretty amazing, and much too large to view in a day. We might go back.

The next few pictures show Versailles. Lucia is in the Hall of Mirrors. There were windy hailstorms while we visited, but they blew out after 3 pm. We ate at a very nice little restaurant near the big lake they have. It was so good we ate there twice. The staircase is in Marie Antoinette's special little house. Lucia has a swan story to share, and as we headed back to the exit there was a double rainbow over the palace. We were the last tourists to leave the grounds, at about 8:30.

The final two photos come from today, as Lucia, Julia and I went to visit the pet stores along the Seine where they sell $1500 cats and assorted animals like chipmunks and ferrets. We were on the Ile de la Cite where it tapers to a point. The Pont Nuef is in the background. We ate crepes and visited a big park called Parc du Luxembourg, which is the last photo. There is a big pond where people sail little toy boats that have no motors.

Tomorrow we see Sacre Couer with my brother Matt. Right now the girls are watching cartoons in French, and we are relaxing tonight.

We will be home soon, and miss our friends and family. See you all soon!
