Montgomery, Alabama and Destin, Florida

The sand really is white and fine.

Poolside after a visit to the beach.

Mariela reconnecting with Kris, a homeschooling mom that relocated to Montgomery from Los Angeles.  They showed us a water play area in downtown Montgomery and a great BBQ restaurant.

This picture is out of order, but it's the beach at Destin.  The wind and water was very warm, even at 8 pm at night.

The girls with Zachary and Elizabeth, friends from homeschooling at home.
We slept in Atlanta last night, then made it to Montgomery to visit friends for lunch.  We drove through Alabama on a state road.  It was slow and long, but it was very pretty.  At the end of it all we made it to Destin, Florida, which is a resort town.  We made it to the beach right at sunset and swam in the warm Gulf waters.  The sand is white and fine.  Mariela and I were enchanted, but the girls were fairly bothered because they were concerned about jellyfish.  We'll go back tomorrow morning to check it out again.
